Heidi, love the duck ponds. When my boys were growing up we lived in Gulfport, MS. Colonial bakery was not far from our house and they had a huge duck pond around the building. They would give you stale bread to feed the ducks every day. So we spent a lot of time at the duck pond, yes, they are very protective of their young.
I also grew up with ducks, chickens ad turkeys, turkey's are also very protective...they will flog you in a heartbeat. Ask Me....
